Happy Birthday!

Today is the day we celebrate the 240th anniversary of the founding of our nation! If you're worried about the state of society, the elections, etc.; certainly pray for a change in minds and hearts, but also remember there has been much contention in the country at times, but we are still the United States of America.

There are so many great things on the Internet to help catch you up on the where and why of today, in case you are lacking in that area. This article, Making Sense of the 4th of July was especially helpful...John Adams thought we should celebrate on July 2nd, the day on which the Second Continental Congress dissolved all allegiance to the British Crown. Government being what it is, it took two days to finish up the paperwork and the Declaration of Independence was signed on the day we now celebrate our freedom. The 2nd or the 4th, it is important to recall and remember what it took to become a free nation and give thanks to all the brave men and women who fought to make it so.

If you're a fireworks person, there is a pretty cool NOVA site that explains all the science behind fireworks...learning is everywhere, people!

Around here, there is a bigger birthday to celebrate...today my mom turns 80! As #2 mentioned, it is "quite a bit" less than the country but still a big achievement. We gathered as a family on Saturday to have a party and celebrate this most loving and giving of moms.

No idea...
It's easy to pick a theme when your birthday is July 4th!
The other July babies helped with the candles (and G because he's 4)
Mom with her babies (and the photo-bomber)

Grammy with her grandbabies

My sibs and my babies...in chronological order
What a perfect day to remember, in how many ways, we are blessed!
